International Affairs

The Russian Embassy reported that Ambassador Aganin met with SRSG Tetteh to discuss the political process and the implementation of the Roadmap.

UNSMIL reported that the Libyan Joint Technical Coordination Team on Border Security concluded a visit to Turkish border security centers.

The GNU reported that Minister of Oil Abdulsadek met with Qatar's Minister of Energy and QatarEnergy CEO Al Kaabi to discuss energy sector cooperation.

Political Affairs

The Supreme Court of Libya ruled HoR's Law No. 22 of 2023 unconstitutional for violating judicial independence and the separation of powers.

HoR Spokesman Bliheg reported that the joint task force mandated to monitor Libya's frozen assets held its first meeting at the Administrative Control Authority in Tripoli.

HNEC stated that its board held an expanded meeting to review final preparations for the municipal elections scheduled for February 7.

Security Developments

The LNA reported that Chief of Staff Khaled Haftar inspected military positions near the Al Toum border crossing and vowed to strike firmly against anyone threatening Libya's security.

The Attorney General's Office announced the discovery of forged family records that enabled 163 foreigners to unlawfully obtain Libyan national numbers.

Economic Affairs

The NOC announced that AGOCO has brought a well at Al Sarir field into production, with a daily output of 2,200 barrels of oil and 350,000 standard cubic feet of gas.

The GNU Ministry of Oil reported that Acting Minister Abdulsadek met with Woodside Energy's CEO O'Neill to discuss expanding energy and gas cooperation.
